Do to the projected 3 trillion dollar surplus over the next 10 years the Republicans want to refund 800 billion dollars of this "surplus" in the form of tax cuts to us taxpayers, you, me, and Wall Street. But wait!!! 2 trillion dollars of the surplus is in fact the Social Security Trust Fund (Our Social Security Equity), therefore not a General Fund surplus at all. The remaining 1 trillion dollar actual projected surplus is what the tax cuts would come out of, and the remaining estimated 200 billion to pay down our National Debt of 5,600,000,000,000 (5.6 trillion Dollars). This deceit by my party makes me want to puke. In March of 1999 we Republicans were criticizing the Democrats for this very type of accounting of the Social Security Trust Fund. We were all over them for counting the Social Security Trust Fund to tout the successful budget surplus. Our Republican rational (or should I say rationalization) is that the 3 trillion dollar combination of the Social Security Trust Fund surplus/equity and the General Fund surplus, credit our 5.6 trillion national debt. A smoke and mirrors way of supposedly reducing the debt by 3 trillion dollars. This is more of an affront to our common sense. Come on guys, lets have some integrity and rise above the Democratic hog trough of deceit. With integrity we can prevail. With smoke and mirror accounting we are the same as Democrats except with a different corrupt and misleading agenda. The conservative and responsible thing for us conservatives to do would be to pay down our National Debt. Or are we not actually "conservative"? Of course unless your interpretation of conservative is "selfish". The Blue Dog Coalition (Democrats) are the true conseratives on this issue and we should do a Slick Willy and make this plan our own. Or act in a bipartisan way and endorse their plan of course with a few improvements of our own.. We should also back their Legislation on the National Debt Reduction Lock Box H.R.2796.
