Born in Texas, his wife Sarah was born in Gonzelas Texas but her fatherdied in Uvalde TX where she may have met James. James had a ranch in Corona New Mexico that failed. He then moved to Bisbee AZ for another uncessful try at ranching. He was also a carpenter.

James died of Tuberculosis and for many hears Sarah was his strength.
