Outline Motto: Why put off until tomarrow, what you can put off until the day after that. procrastination-To put off until later- delay Society has put such a negetive connotation association with procrastination. Personally I think that is an affront on Americans that prioritize differently than main stream America, the land of the free. What is expected of us, or what we expect from ourselves due to outside pressure isn't nessecerily what we want or need. Everyone has a different string to pull to make them happy and if that string is independence from expectations imposed on us from outside sources or from ourselves, so be it. Except it, deal with it, and reap the joys of a guilt free existance with time on your hands for the more enjoyable things in life. Such as A day of golf instead of an afternoon of gardening. After all what is gardening anyway? It originated hundreds of years ago when they figured out that if you made sure that if the grass around your house was grazed close to the ground your home was less likley to burn down during a range fire. Public opinion decided that this looked good as well as being pracitcal. This is when a home started doubleing as a show piece as well as a shelter. Then a couple named Harold and Edena Jones planted a poinssetta, 3 irus bulbes, a bed of daisies, and an elm tree and the rest is history. We have been keeping up with the jones ever since. Granted some people enjoy this kind of behavior but a lot of us only do it because it is expected of us. lesson. keep a sheep in your yard to protect it from wildfire, that is all of the landscaping you need. A weekend fishing instead of figuering out your income tax. Think about it once a year we agonize over this book work that we are unfamilure with, we hate it, it's painful, we aren't very good at it. If we let a profesional tax man do it will probally be able to get enough extra back to pay for that fishing trip. And if we don't, what the hell, we didn't have to do it and we got to go fishing. We are a little poorer but a little happier. A weekend of skiing instead of visiting the inlaws Thats the easy one. Tell the spouse, there's one of two ways to use this weekend. to enjoy it or not to enjoy it and that your going to enjoy it and go skiing the spouse can do whatever they like. However if the inlaws wish to visit us they can join us at the ski hill. They never do. And in the off chance that they do the weekend is still salveged by the joys of the ski hill. an evening at the night club instead of A sunday drive instead of tuning up the car You wake up you look outside, the sun is shining, you sigh and say what a beautifil day to work on the car. Thats not the way it is around my house! I learned a long time ago that I am an expert at what I do and am paid well to do it. It is a waste of time and peace of mind for me to try to do something myself when it is someone elses expertise. It takes me 4 times as long as an expert and if I would have put that time into my own expertise I would have been far ahead of the game by having an expert execute the chore. Even in my off time, my time is worth what my wages are during working hours. In my off time I choose to enjoy myself instead of tortering myself in chores that I am not good at. A drive in the country or along the coast clears the mind and relaxes the soul. Go for it. 1 Rationalization; THE ART OF 2)justification-compleation of rationilazation |
