Upon renting a cabin in the Big Bear Mountains of California I decided I needed to buy some firewood for the up coming winter, so my brother Gene and I went to town looking for some. I asked at the gas station attendant where I could purchase some firewood and he directed me to the place up the road that sells the chain saw art, the carved bears, mountain lions and stuff. Upon arriving at the chain saw art place I ordered 2 cords of wood. Then I said how much will that be? The cashier said $540, and deadpan I asked "how much for un-carved"? Gene and I went into uncontrollable laughter but the girl behind the counter didn't think it was funny. One day after a photo shoot I did for a hot air balloon company, the guy that owned the balloon didn't want to drive the flatbed balloon trailer over a large mountain pass because he had to return the following day so he asked if he could leave it in my driveway, I agreed. Later my wife Sharon came home and asked what is that in the driveway? I said a hot Air Balloon Dear. Sharon: What is it doing in our driveway? Daryl: I got a really good deal an it honey, it is only $500 dollars a month, think of all the money we can make! Sharon: You didn't buy it. Daryl: Yes I did . Why else would it be in our driveway You Sharon: You S.O.B. One day Sharon and I were driving through southern Idaho and I saw a potato storage warehouse. Old potato storage warehouse's are partially submerged in the ground and there is dirt placed on the roof for it's insulating abilities. I said look Sharon, there is a potato shed. What they do is plant the potatoes on the roof and potatoes being roots they grow right down to the ceiling of the potato shed and when the get big they just fall right down into the cold storage. That is why you never see any shovel marks on them. |
