CAMPGROUND NAME: Teton Canyon
VISIT DATE: 08/14/2000
STATE: Idaho
REGION: Intermountain
RANGER DISTRICT: Teton Basin
NEAREST CITY/TOWN: Driggs
RESERVATIONS: 1-877-444-6777
DIRECTIONS:
In Driggs, ID, at intersection of State Rt. 55/Main St. and
Little, take Little east 1 mile to a "Y" intersection. Bear left
onto Ski Hill Rd. (this road will change name several times but
retain "hill" in all the names) and go 7.7 miles to campground
sign (Forest Rt. 009). Turn right at sign onto Rt. 009 (gravel)
and go 4.3 to another campground sign. Turn right at sign into
campground.
GENERAL COMMENTS:
The elevation is 7,200 ft.
NOTE: The campground is physically located in Wyoming.
The campground, located at the edge of Jedediah Smith Wilderness
and near the backside of the Grand Teton National Park, is a
large loop through two very different environments. The first
part winds through a very dense Douglas fir grove of trees along
the Teton Creek. The area is darkly shaded with little
understory away from the creek's bank. The other part or section
is in an open field with lots of wildflowers and a few Aspen.
The towering cliffs and mountains can be seen only from this
section. The scenic setting and two challenging trails that
begin next to the campground make this campground one of the more
popular in the area. For the drive to the campground, the Grand
Teton National Park's three dominating peaks are prominent on the
skyline.
Equestrian facilities are located 0.1 miles west of the
campground with large parking lot, corrals and potable water.
Several nice "quiet" rock climbing areas can be found near the
campground.

VISIT DATE: 08/01/2000
STATE: Idaho
REGION: Intermountain
RANGER DISTRICT: Teton Basin
NEAREST CITY/TOWN: Victor
RESERVATIONS: No

GENERAL COMMENTS:
The elevation is 6,600 ft.
NOTE: The campground is physically located in Wyoming.
The campground stretches along Trail Creek and Wyoming State Rt.

grass understory limits privacy. The campground is a nice

National Parks.
This is bear country; practice safe food storage techniques.
